After instructions for building the tabernacle, God set those in place to minister as priests in the tabernacle. Aaron was chosen as the high priest, and he was fitted for fancy clothing to represent the glory and beauty of the Lord. Aaron would be the only one able to go into the most holy place on the Day of Atonement to offer for the sins of the people. The system was flawed in a big way because as good as Aaron was, he also had to offer for himself. He might have been the best that God had to work with, but he still wasn't good enough to walk in on his own merit and make atonement for the people. A person like that would have to be perfect, spotless, holy. A person like that would not be a high priest, but would be a Great High Priest. Jesus would fulfill this role with His death and resurrection, and even today He ever lives to make intercession for us. His clothing is not made by man to represent God's beauty, for He is clothed in His own glory and beauty! He needed not to make an offering for His own sins, because He had none. He came as the Lamb of God, and He offered Himself without blemish, to not only make atonement for us, but also to give us access to God as a royal priesthood. Yes, you heard me right, we have been exalted to a higher position than that of Aaron! We are clothed, not by our own efforts, but we have been graciously covered in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest. Hallelujah!

Clothing for a Priest
Exodus 28:2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory
and for beauty.

ReplyDeleteThe other night when I got Aiden from his class after life group, he told me that I was a king and he was too. We all need to see ourselves the way God sees us. Let us look and see and taste of God's word. It is soooo good! Hallelujah!
