GFYD 12-20-11

Psalm 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Maybe you are in a place in your life where you desperately need His strength, His power, His help, His hope, His salvation. All of these things that you so desperately need are only found in His presence. The Bible uses words like "refuge" and "wings" to describe the presence of God. Under His wings, or in His refuge is where we find the strength and help that we often need. Why then do we often run to people or places other than Him to find what only He can give? Good question! I believe that there are many possible answers. Some refuse to run to Him because of pride, they falsely believe that they are self-sufficient. Other stay away from His presence because of sin that they choose not to repent of. Some do not take refuge in Him because of the fight with the flesh that always happens when we choose to walk after the Spirit. Whatever it is that hinders you, forsake it today and run to the One who has everything that your heart is truly searching for. Father, lift up Your wings, I'm crawling under. Amen

  1. Refuge is always a need in my life. Daily I experience hardships or attacks from the enemy or just life period. Living in this fallen world can be so painful at times and we need comfort from God's presence. Like a shade tree that helps us cool down in the summer heat, God shields us from the flames of the accuser! His presence is a cold drink of water, a refreshing drink when we are dry and thirst! His presence is the comforting arms of a Father, a gentle touch during times of grieving and morning! His presence is knowledge, peace, fullness of joy and energizing! His presence is overwhelming and fullfilling! Have I left anything out? Come now Holy Ghost!
