Romans 5:5 “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Let’s talk about hope for a couple of minutes today. We use the word hope as if we can’t be sure what will happen. We say “I hope it doesn’t rain”, or “I hope everything works out”. When the word hope is used in the Bible, it actually means a confident and positive expectation of good. Now that’s a huge difference! That is why this verse calls it a “hope that does not disappoint”. This hope that the Bible speaks of comes from a reality of God’s love for us, and the revelation of God’s love for us is given to us by the Holy Spirit. One of the purposes of the Holy Spirit is to give us power, but instead of the emphasis being of the love of power, the Holy Spirit wants to reveal the power of love in our lives. If you are lacking hope in your situation right now, then there is a great chance that you haven’t come to understand the great revelation of God’s love that the Holy Spirit desires to pour into your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to pour it in today! Amen.

  1. When I got {saved} I heard hope preached but also heard about Holy Spirit. It was quite a while until I found that the Spirit is the river that flows in contact with God. After the experience of being filled with the Holy spirit I could tell the difference when I wanted something- hoped for something- prayed for something- had the faith for something. But it was so easy for my newfound hope and faith to be set aside by circumstances.I was let down by myself not God. Good Teaching
