Grace For Your Day 11-29-11

Psalms 9:1I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.

What does your whole heart include? First we must understand that this passage isn’t speaking of our physical heart. The original Hebrew word that is used in this verse means “inner man, mind, heart, understanding”. With this in mind, when I think of praising God with my whole heart, it speaks of everything within me. We often focus on the external means of praise……..we clap our hands and jump and shout praises…….and I believe that we should, but it must be birthed from an internal desire to give God ourselves completely. And in my opinion, it would be extremely difficult to praise with our whole heart without some sort of external emotion coming to the surface. I can’t cheer for a football team that I really want to win without it affecting me on the outside in some way, and why would it manifest itself differently when I praise God with my whole heart? I think that the most important thing for me is not to worry about how my praise might look, but to make sure that my praise is genuine and sincere……..but if you’re anywhere near, you might want to give me some room J
