GFYD 11-16-11 "No Fear"
Psalms 46:1-2
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear.....
Let's walk through this together. God is my refuge. This means He is my hiding place, my shelter, my fortress.....in Him I am safe. He is my strength. This means that He is my source, my power, my enabler, He is my ability.....I no longer look at the limits of my ability because He has moved the bar. Finally, He is a very present help....that's why the psalmist begins with the words "God is". I'm grateful that God was for my ancestors, and it doesn't stretch us much to declare that God will be, but I want to rest in the peace of knowing that God is! When I'm scared and I need a place to hide....He is! When I'm drained and exhausted, feel like giving up, and I need the power....He is! And then we come to the therefore in this passage. What is the therefore therefore? It's there to tell us that because He is, no matter where I am, I don't have to be afraid. Amen
