GFYD 11-15-11 "Mind of God"
Mark 8:33
“…you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
Jesus said this to Peter when Peter began to rebuke Him about having to suffer. Sometimes we too have a wrong view of whether or not being friends of God should exempt us from the suffering that takes place in this world. There is no doubt that God can, and often does deliver His people out of troubles and trials, but if you have been around for any time at all then I’m sure that you have discovered that ultimately pain and suffering does still affect the people of God. We need to remember that we live in a fallen world, a world that is deteriorating under the curse of sin, and even though we are no longer under the curse of sin, our flesh is still getting more wrinkles each and every day. The death of Jesus on the cross doesn’t promise us only roses and rainbows in this life, but it does promise us that we have the miracle worker living within us who can speak to the storms in our life with a voice that must be obeyed. The next time that you are tempted to say “I don’t know why God let this happen”, just take a look at the cross……..and know that although this world can bring much tribulation, He has overcome it all, and promised us that we will too. Amen
