Grace For Your Day 10-25-11

Genesis 12:7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
How do you live out your faith? I mean, it’s such a tremendous gift that we have been given the righteousness of God. Abraham also received God’s righteousness by faith, before the law was ever given through Moses. Abraham, a friend of God because of his faith, also sought the Lord and desired an intimate relationship with God. We see this when we read many times in the book of Genesis where Abraham built altars for the Lord to memorialize key moments of revelation and victories from God. On the contrary, as we look at Abraham’s nephew Lot, we never read about Lot building altars to the Lord. Instead we read that Lot set his camp near Sodom, a wicked city, and it wasn’t long before Lot was living right in the middle of Sodom and Gomorrah. Both of these men believed in God, and Lot was saved from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but Lot sure lost a lot because of his lack of following and serving God. So, back to the question……how do you live out your faith? Now that God has declared you righteous, start building altars. Amen.
