Grace For Your Day 10-26-11
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Can this really be true? Can we really come “boldly” to God’s throne? What if I have been a lousy a Christian….can I still come boldly? How is this possible? The answer is in the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood has made God’s throne of judgment into a throne of grace for those who have been washed by the blood of the lamb. Now, when we have a problem, or a need, we can come boldly to His throne to find mercy, which means that we don’t get what we deserve. Our failures mean that we deserve severe punishment. His mercy means that we don’t get what we deserve. We obtain mercy. We also find grace, which means we get what we don’t deserve! Yes, I said that right………mercy says you don’t get the punishment that you deserve, and grace says that you do receive the blessings that you don’t deserve! That’s really the message of the new covenant, in that I don’t deserve anything, but God did everything, and for that He deserves all the glory. Lord help me to never avoid your throne because of my failures. Instead, may I always run to your throne to obtain mercy and find grace in my time of need. Amen
