Grace For Your Day 10-24-11

Luke 7:47  Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
This notorious sinner came before Jesus and washed His feet with her tears. She gave Jesus the worship and adoration that He should have received from His disciples who had become a little too familiar with Him. I guess it was a wake-up call to them that they were following someone extremely worthy…….the Son of God. But what was Jesus saying here? Was He saying that this woman had many sins to be forgiven, but the disciples didn’t need God that much? I believe that the truth Jesus is actually bringing to the surface is that the woman recognized the tremendous gift of forgiveness that Jesus had freely given to her. It wasn’t that the disciples didn’t need Him; it was just that they didn’t truly understand their great need for Him. I think that we too sometimes forget just how much God has done for us when He forgave all of our sins……….what a huge gift! When we truly comprehend the enormous gift, then our love will also become greater for Him. Lord, help me love you big. Amen
