Be There
Job 2:13
Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words.
We have all tried to console someone in the midst of tragedy. What do you do? What do you say? How do you help? These are tough questions, and the answer isn't always the same. In the case of Job, his friends didn't say a word for a whole week. They just sat there with him. It was the right thing to do, as a matter of fact, his friends did well until they started talking. They would have done better just to sit there with him. No doubt God has called us to be there for people. We don't have to know the perfect thing to say, we just need to be willing to give of our time. Sometimes the right thing to do is to help someone stop crying, while other times it is best to cry with them. Whatever the case, may we always be sensitive to God's guidance when He simply wants us to be there for someone.
