Merciful God
Ezra 9:13
And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this,
One of the hardest questions to answer is the one "why does bad things happen to good people?". The truth is, the Bible teaches us that there are no good people (Romans 3:10). I guess the better question would be "why does good things happen to bad people?". The reality is that we all are blessed way more than we deserve, and none of us have been punished to the severity that justice would demand of us. Does God ever punish or correct? The Bible says yes. Is there grace evident even in His discipline? Absolutely! If it were not for the long suffering and patience of our God, surely no one would survive. When we can grasp this truth, the roots of bitterness can't take hold, and must let go. We have so much to be thankful for, and on the top of the list, there is mercy.

ReplyDeleteThank You Jesus for mercy! No one enjoys to suffer or go through hard times. I know that I don't! So I am glad that He is an ever present Savior. Always! There's an old secular song that says "hold on,help is on the way". Sometime during the challenges of trials that my family goes through,I remember to hold on to the hope that comes with Him! Thank You Jesus! When you've done all that you can do to stand,then stand.
