The Lord is God
1 Kings 18:21
Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.
God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). He is jealous because He loves us with a great love. He is jealous because He made us. He is jealous because He knows the plans that He has for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He is jealous because He also knows the plans that the enemy has for us (John 10:10). Would you want someone that you deeply loved to share their love with another? How it must break God's heart when we sing worship songs to Him from a heart that only loves Him on Sundays. We may not have the audacity to worship false gods like Baal and Asherah, but does the name of the idol matter as much as the fact that our heart is divided and our devotion is double minded? These words are not meant to condemn, because we would all be worthy of it, but to open our eyes to the reality of God's love who pursues a people like us who are so easily lured away from His presence. Oh, how He loves us! Lord help us to no longer sway, but to totally and completely follow You, because You are GOD!

yes so hard to lay down our idols especially when lots of times we do not even realize it, take even the time of year, we now get ready to celebrate the birthn of jesus christ, but if we look inside how much praise do we have for jesus and how much do we key in on shopping for christmas, the devil is slick, but he is defeated, let our god reign and rain down at all times, pray yes lord let you jehova become the first thought each day and primary thoughts during the day and the last thought at nite, i try and i fail, but by gods grace i get to try again and again and again, thank the lord we are under the new covenant not the old where punishment from god was harsh,lets give THANKSGIVING a new meaning, spoend this day in worship to the lord our god not just saying grace over our meals
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree. How easily we are besset by sin? How quickly our hearts turn to another? I am so thankful that God is jealous for me. If He wasn't I would not feel as loved , and thats just not Him. His love is perfect in evey way!
