What's Left
1 Kings 17:13
But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son.
Obedience to God always pays off. This widow was told by God, and by God's prophet, that she was to feed Elijah during the famine and drought. On the surface, it seemed unfair and impossible. Why would God take the last meal that this woman had? Her plans were for her and her son to eat their last bit of food, and then die from hunger. She could honestly say "I don't have anything extra to give". So what did she do with what she had left? What would you do? This woman chose to trust God, and her flour and oil miraculously replenished itself every day until the drought was over. For me, this truth about God removes every excuse I could think when it pertains to giving. She wasn't asked to give so that she could do without. She was asked to give so that she could be sustained by God's supernatural provision. When we give what we have to God, what will we have left? All that He has!

Great Love of God ,you know she look at her son one last time she thought and then obeyed God she new
ReplyDeleteand served also .makes us want give even when we don't here his voice . I wonder how the story would go in the case of the rich young ruler, Jesus wanted to write about him also but he walked away how sad is that
all comes down to trusting in God, we so often forget in our busy lives that Gods faithfulness never stops, but to take our natural eyes off the situation we see in the natural world and to let the supernatural work, notice she did not say but what about us, she just did what she was asked talk about childlike faith, when we pass tests from God he allways has something better for us, what has God asked you to do that you have been afraid to do because the end result was not in sight, guilty- we have all been tested at one time or another whether it be food or money or love or forgiveness, Final result- be closer to God
