The God Who Answers

1 Kings 18:24 Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed. Was there any doubt? I believe that in the hearts of all the people, they knew that the gods of Baal and Asherah would not answer. Why then would they worship them? The worship of these false gods always included acts of immorality, fornication, and doing what felt good under the disguise of pleasing some deity. It was religious parties so to speak, but there was a reality behind the fake gods that were worshipped. The devil is the root of every false god that tries to stand in the place of the Lord. His goal is not offer a better alternative to God, but to lead people away from the only path to salvation. He really doesn't care what the name of the god is, as long as it isn't Jesus. That's why it was probably no surprise that these gods with hands of stone and wood would not and could not answer the prayers of the people. Who or what is god in your life? Is it a person, a thing, maybe even a team? What is it that you blindly follow, that dictates whether or not today will be a good one or a bad one? What matters most to you right now? Now ask this question.... If you prayed to it, would it answer you? It really isn't a far fetched idea to serve the One who created you, is it? Jesus Christ is the God who answers.

  1. How easy is it to worship other gods! I mean we have a predisposition ,if you will, to giving ourselves over to worship false gods. It is automaticly done when we fail in our DAILY worship of the one true God, Jesus Christ! I pray that before it's too late, we would be awakened from our spiritual adulterous behavior, and worship Him just for who Jesus is! I am greived at how we worship our feelings instead of who He is.
