Ready for Greatness
1 Samuel 22:2
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
David's mighty men would accomplish great feats, especially for a group with a limited number. What we can't miss, however, is where they came from. Our scripture tells us that these "mighty men" did not have the best of pedigrees. Before they were mighty, they were in distress, in debt, and discontented. In other words, they were in trouble, poor, and unhappy. Only God would see greatness in this group. In God's eyes, these men were ready for greatness. That's the good thing about trouble. Trouble pushes us out of complacency. Poverty forces us to find other sources of provision. Unhappiness leads us to look for fulfillment somewhere else. Mighty men don't come from complacent, lukewarm believers living a stress free life. Mighty men develop out of adversity and pain. Do you find yourself being squeezed by the pressures and weights of life? Don't lose heart or give up, you are positioned and poised to become mighty!

Agreed! I like being weak enough for God to be strong in me!
