Forward March

2 Samuel 5:24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. If we could only get a glimpse of the heavenly hosts that are prepared to do battle for us! The Philistines had once again come up against Israel, and David inquired of the Lord whether or not he should fight. God's orders were for Israel to wait until they heard the "sound of a going" in the tops of the trees. No doubt this sound was the forces of heaven going before Israel to assure them of the victory. What a confidence builder this must have been for David and his army! If only we could also hear the sound of heaven going forth on our behalf! The truth is, we can. God's Word is the sound that created the heavens and the earth. It is the sound that drove out demons and brought dead people out of tombs. His Word has gone out ahead of us, and it will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). The time for waiting has passed. The sound is more than audible, it is loud and clear, and it says that the gates of hell shall not prevail (Matthew 16:18). Forward march!
