Just Trust and Serve
2 Samuel 2:4
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
It had been fifteen years give or take since David was anointed by Samuel to be the next king of Israel, and it would be several more years before he would become king over both Judah and Israel. That's over twenty years of waiting on God's plan and purpose to unfold. David even had opportunities to speed up God's plan by killing Saul, but he refused. When Saul was fatally injured on the battlefield, he asked an Amalekite to finish him off. The Amalekite did, and then carried Saul's crown to David. How did David respond? He had the Amalekite killed for taking the life of the Lord's anointed. David's hands were completely clean when it came to the demise of king Saul. By waiting on God's timing, and allowing God to bring His plan to pass, David became the greatest king that Israel ever had. God has a plan for us all, but we must never compromise our own integrity just so that we can speed up His purposes. Just trust Him and serve Him, and He will finish what He started (Philippians 1:6).
