God and a Sling Shot

1 Samuel 17:37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee. The way David saw it was simple. If God could deliver him from a lion, and a bear, then a giant would be no different. David had wisdom to see the common trait in all three. The lion, the bear, and Goliath were all trying to oppose God's man. David also had sense enough to know that by himself, he couldn't kill any of them, so nothing more of him was needed for Goliath. Faith would be the common weapon against all three. It took faith to stand up to him. Goliath had been presenting himself to Israel for forty days in a row. He was defying Israel and their God, but no one seemed courageous enough to believe God for intervention. Not even Saul! After David stood up to Goliath, slung the stone, and then chopped of his head, it was evident why God had anointed him as the next king. What giant is standing in your way, mocking you? How long will you allow it to defy you and God before you stand up and face it with a kingly anointing? Just think about it, anyone in the camp of Israel could have done what David did that day. God was just waiting on one person to take a stand for him. I wonder how many soldiers looked at their own swords and spears, coming to the conclusion that what they had wasn't enough to take down a giant? If only they had known that a sling shot could do the job if God got behind it! Just remember, anything that defies you, is really defying God, and if you're willing to have faith in God, you will see the giant fall.
