The God Behind the Miracle

Joshua 5:14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

It still had to be somewhat nerve racking. Joshua was about to claim Jericho, and even though God had dried up the Jordan River for Israel to cross, I would imagine that there was still some pent up anxiety about what the coming days would bring. Of course God knew this, and He showed up personally to give Joshua some reassurance. Yes, Jesus Christ Himself met up with Joshua and basically said "Just wanted to let you know that I'm here, and you don't have to worry about a thing"! As Joshua gazed upon the Lord who was ready to do battle, Joshua said "Just tell me what to do"! Any anxiety or hesitation that might have tried to creep in was instantly blown to smithereens! Now Joshua knew that God was going before Him.....the Jordan River's rapid recession was proof of it, and all of the other miraculous exploits of God's power and favor were undeniable. The difference in our present text was that now Joshua was face to face with the One who performed all the before mentioned miracles. It's one thing to see His power, but quite another thing to see Him! I believe that this is the intimacy that God desires of us all. To not only recognize what God does, but to ultimately see the God behind the miracle. What are you facing that is so difficult to trust Him for, even though you have seen His handiwork all the way through your process? I pray that today you will have an encounter with Him, the Captain of the host of the Lord!

  1. Too often church goers think that those in leadership have it all togather. We all need reasurance...God is always the sorce, He is whom we are to run to with every insecurity, every doubt or question. HE will calm our doubt and reasure us of what were to do even in the face of everyone else thinking were crazy. He has miricles waiting to preform before our eyes AND He is not put off because of our own insecuritys. GLORY !

  2. What a difference revelation can have in the human heart! The Lord is a consuming fire which burns up all of our character defects like insecurity! If we choose to get close enough for long enough we can experience the fires of God! We hesitate or suppress the initiation of the Holy Spirit forfeiting the consumtion of the death within us! Ah, but when we give way to grace, the all consuming flames of the God of Isreal completely destroys the doubt! Let God be destutive in His most Holy way!
