If God Doesn't Do it
Numbers 14:42 Go not up, for the Lord is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.
Israel came to the borders of the promised land, but doubted God's ability to give it to them. The ten spies that voted "no" died of a plague, and everyone that was over 20 was doomed to die in the wilderness. After God spoke, some of them decided to change their mind and go up and fight. On the surface, it sounds noble, but with a closer look, it was disobedience and rebellion. The promised land was just that, a promise. The Israelites were not capable of fighting their way in, no more than Abraham and Sarah could have produced a son at the age of 100. If God didn't do it, it wouldn't be done. That's why this attempt to fight failed, and it failed miserably. It didn't work because they had already taken God out of the equation, and because He was out of the equation, they would never get to live where they were destined to live. We too have a destiny, and we can't fight, work, or earn our way into it. If God doesn't do it, it won't be done. The good news is that God did do it, and He did it well! He purchased our freedom on the cross, and He has left us an inheritance to posses. I pray that we won't let doubt in God, or confidence in our flesh keep us from possessing. Instead, we will trust in His Word, and watch it come to pass as our enemies fall before us!
