Extraordinary

Numbers 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water.... There was no water to be found, and the people were singing the same old song about wishing they were back in Egypt. Moses did what a good leader does when faced with a crisis.......he fell on his face before the Lord. I can definitely say that it works every time. There have also been times when I failed to fall upon my face before Him, and let's just say that those times didn't end as well. Oh the lessons we learn! Anyway, God tells Moses to speak to the rock, and it will give it's water, except instead of the word it's, the verse says that the rock will give forth "his" water. Now I've never heard of a rock being referred to as a 'he", but this one was. You see, this was no ordinary rock, just like the cloud that they followed each day was no ordinary cloud. The rock was unique in that it brought forth water, which rocks usually don't do. This rock also followed them. It was a mobile rock! Now I don't know if they noticed it, although it would be hard not too! The most extraordinary part of this rock was the fact that it was none other than the Lord Jesus Christ according to 1 Corinthians 10:4. Many assume that Jesus was no where to be found in the Old Testament, but He is all over the place, and every time that you see Him, there is something extraordinary about His manifestation. A rock is just a rock, unless that rock is Christ, and if Christ can be extraordinary in a rock, just think what He could do through us! Let's be extraordinary!
