Deal With It

Leviticus 5:6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned..... The trespass offering was given to cover the people's sins against God and others. It was a requirement, unlike the burnt, meal and peace offerings which were free will offerings. The sin and the trespass offerings would have to be given first before someone could give a voluntary offering before the Lord. Jesus echoed this truth when he spoke of someone trying to bring a gift to God before working things out with a brother. He told them to "Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift." (Mat. 5:24). The trespass offering speaks to me the importance of not procrastinating with sin issues in our life. If it's between us and another, let's deal with it quickly. If it's between us and God, even more so. This is required in order for us to walk before God with a clean heart. He dealt with our sins by sending His Son to take the punishment that we deserved. It was a horrible way for anyone to die, but it reveals just how ugly and lethal our sins really are. I'm so thankful that God chose to deal with my sins on the cross, and I pray that I always remain watchful and intent to deal with my sins against God and others by running boldly to His throne of grace!

  1. Amen!! Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV) Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
