"What's In Your Hand?" 4-10-12

Exodus  4:2 So the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?"

God truly did great things through Moses, and for many of those miracles, God used the rod or staff in the hand of Moses. I feel as if God is asking us today, "what is in your hand?". It's easy for us to think that if we only had more of this, or more of that, then we could really do what God has called us to do. I must admit that I have used this excuse in my own life and ministry in the past. I pray that I never fall back into that mindset ever again! God is not asking us to do something without equipping us to do it. If He is calling you to do a work for Him, then you have what you need, and when you need more, He will provide it. We are the people of God, and as His people, He will not send us out without also providing everything that we need to perform the mission that He Himself commissioned. So, what is in your hand? Money? Talent to sing, preach, teach, encourage, discern? A practical skill or trade? Whatever it is that you have, stop waiting for more and let God use it! I believe that if you will use the little that you have, God will increase what you have in order to do more. For instance, If I am letting my lack of finances keep me from giving to God, then I may never come to that place of seeing enough to enable me to give the way that I desire. On the other hand, if I give to God out of the little that I have, I truly believe that He will bring increase into my life so that I can give more as He leads me. If I have a God-given ability to encourage others, then I should not wait for a bigger platform before I use my gift, I should be ready to encourage whomever God should place in my path on any given day. Like anyone, I desire to impact the lives of many, but am I willing and ready to impact the life of one when needed? I pray today that God will show you what He's placed in your hand, and that you will get to work asap! Amen

  1. Lord Jesus, help me to not make any excuses for anything but instead use the gifts, talents, and resources in which you created in me, even bring to light those that are there that I haven't even discovered yet. Amen.

  2. What are we waiting for? We should be serving while we wait on the Lord to bring increase! We can encourage now, we can sing now, we can give now! Why are we waiting? Why do we hesitate? Is God not worthy of all that we have? Have we got anything that God has not given us? Does it all really belong to Him or not? Let us see with humbled hearts the people who are dying and going to hell for eternity! Let us see with humbled hearts the hurting and broken people who need to be introduced to the Healer, Jesus Christ the Lord! What are we waiting for!
