"Pride and Plagues" 4-14-12

Exodus 10:3 And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.

Plague after plague ravaged the land of Egypt. Could anything bring the destruction to a halt? Actually yes, and that one thing was humbleness. If only Pharaoh would have humbled himself before God, a lot of damage, and many lives would have been spared. It's really crazy when you think about it, the mighty Pharaoh going head to head with the Almighty God. It was never a match of course, and God was in control the whole time making His glory known to all. Just as it was for Pharaoh, pride can create havoc in your life and in the lives of those around you. All of our suffering isn't a result of our lack of humbleness, but some of it certainly is. When you give it a little thought, its also very silly of us to stand up to God, because no one can stand up to the Almighty. Not Pharaoh, and not you. Somewhere at the bottom of the Red Sea there is a pile of bones that speak volumes about just how low pride can take you. I pray that you will choose the path of humbleness today, amen.

  1. There is no other way to truely live. Complete surrender to God's will, like it or not that's the world we must live in! Life is defined differently by all, but God's definetion is the one that counts! To gain real life we must loose our way of life and in doing so we will receive Him who is life! No reservations! Nothing to fall back on if it doesn't work! When we are comfortable we get complacent. The life that Jesus is can never get complacent, it's impossible. He comforts us not making us comfortable! He meets the needs but not to cause a lack of dependency.Help us all, especially those who have much!
