"More than Just a Guide" 4-19-12

Exodus 13:21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

The Lord went before them. Just think about that for a minute. God, who, with a strong arm, brought them out of Egypt, went before them. God was constantly reminding them of this with a cloud that not only led them, but shaded them from the heat during the day, and a pillar of fire that gave them warmth at night. How could fear or anxiety ever creep into their hearts knowing that He was leading them? Well it could, and it did, and it can do the same to us if we fail to remember who is in control. Years in the wilderness would teach the children of Israel that the same God that was leading, would also protect and provide for them. They were very slow learners, and they prolonged their journey because of it. I wonder if we too sometimes go in circles because we haven't yet fully trusted in God's ability to get us from point A to point B. Especially when point A is bondage and point B is the promised land! Let us remember that we could've never left Egypt had it not been for God, and He never does anything half way, and whatever comes our way to deter us, He already knows about it and He will do whatever it takes to get us to where He wants us. If you feel lost today, and don't know where you're headed, look up, and He will show up, then just follow.

  1. I love the fact that God reveals Himself to us. I love to see Him show up and show out! It's seems that at times God hides His face from me, but only for a minute. But when His face shines on me it's the greatest experience in real life!
