"Wickedness without Consequence?" GFYD 3-7-12

Genesis 13:12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom.

How close can you get to wickedness without consequences? Ask that question to Lot. What started out as a decision to camp near the wicked city of Sodom, resulted in eventually living in the city that was so sinful that it stunk all the way up to heaven! Lot and his family would later have to flee for their lives in order to escape the judgment of God against Sodom and Gomorrah. And there was collateral damage, as Lot's wife looked back and perished. What can we learn from this? When we try to live on the edge of God's way, we will almost always end up in rebellion and sin. And the problem is not where we draw the line, the problem is which way we are progressing. If we are consistently seeking Him, and desiring to know Him, then the so called line never comes into the picture. It's when we begin to drift that we find ourselves pushing the limits of obedience to our Lord. I think that it would be a good idea to examine where you are today, and then draw a line and say "I'm moving forward from here". And then tomorrow do the same. Let's progress in the right direction until we meet Him face to face.

  1. So true! I have turned from the right direction and fell into sin before. I struggled with it for months and almost lost everything. God's mercy is huge for me. His love is unconditional and everlasting, it endures forever! Collateral damage was minimized to just enough for the corrective action that was needed. Repentance was acceptted and I have been free from it ever since. Praise God!
