Gen 12:2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
God told Abram to leave his pagan homeland, and to walk by faith to a land that would be given to him. God promised to make him a great nation, even though Abram would grow old before even having his promised son, Isaac. God promised to bless him, and to make his name great. This also came to pass, as it wasn't long before Abraham became very prosperous and was feared among his neighbors in the land. What a blessed man Abraham was, but don't miss the main point! God told him that he would be a blessing. In other words, God was saying "you are blessed to be a blessing". Through Abraham, God would bless the entire earth. God never blesses us just to bless us. He blesses us so that we can bless others. In my opinion, the biggest blessing of being blessed is the ability to be able to share it with someone else. I believe that the biggest hindrance to our being a blessing is our blindness to the magnitude of our blessedness................did you get that? Too many of us don't see ourselves as blessed, even though we really are, and because of that we don't practice giving in the capacity that we should. The reality of the matter is this: If you are reading this blog today, you are blessed. Not only blessed, but wealthy compared to the majority of the world today. Millions of people across the globe would be happy with electricity, much less the internet! You are blessed. I'm sorry if this upsets your way of life and takes away your ability to gripe and complain about how hard it is to keep up with the lifestyle that you feel that you deserve, but instead of spending all of our energy to get more, it would do us all a lot of good to concentrate on giving more. Share the blessing!
I would have to very much agree with this blog! Just recently, I have been blessed with a bigger dining room table from a yard sale that we have been looking for for years now. God has found a need for the other table which is just in time. Our need for a larger table has quickly arrived and the God blessed us with it. We also were blessed with new flooring in our living room in which we had red carpet. I told pastor Jonathon that if he needed some carpet to let me know sunday morning. Sunday night we were talking when Carlos came up and asked pastor if he new where to get some "red" carpet. God has blessed me in so many ways like these to be a blessing to others. I believe that He will continue to bring increase as we learn why increase is given. We can never out give Him but we should try!
