"Too Easily Deceived" GFYD 2-25-12

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.

Cunning. Subtle. Deceiver.........these are just a few of the words that describe the devil. When it comes to deception and lies, he is the best. Jesus even said that he can't even speak the truth, not that he would ever want to anyway. Sort of makes you wonder why we listen to him doesn't it? That's why it is so very important that we read God's Word, because His Word is truth. The world today says that there is no absolute truth, and that is not surprising seeing that the Bible says that this world is under the sway of the wicked one, remember the liar? One of his best lies is to convince people that there is no truth, and that everyone's ideas about God and the afterlife are all legitimate ways to heaven. Now as believers in Jesus Christ, we know that there is truth. We know that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, but that doesn't mean that we can't be deceived in other areas of our lives. I see Christians all the time who don't seem to think that God loves them, or cares about them, or that He will provide for them. Yep, that's the cunning serpent at work, even among God's people! The remedy is simple, but it takes some work and discipline. Open up your Bible and read it until you know it. Then whenever you hear that thought that contradicts what you know to be true.......you know where it is coming from. Amen

  1. The lack of truth in the hearts and minds of people is the reason for the bondage within. The truth sets us free! I think we want to believe the truths that we want to believe in and not others. Sometimes it's easier to believe a lie than the truth. Denial is such a powerful force that must be destroyed by the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God! We need it to divide our soul and spirit, our will and God's will. We all still struggle with acting according to what makes us feel better instead of acting on what God's says for us to do. Truth is the sword that cuts the mess out. Yeah it hurts but the product is life not death!
