Genesis 35:1
And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there.

Go back to Bethel Jacob. Go back to where you first heard from God. Where you had the dream and saw God's angels going back and forth to heaven performing His command. Where you first heard God's voice confirming His promise to Abraham and Isaac and then to you. Go back to Bethel Jacob, because you've gotten out of whack and you need an adjustment. You need to hear God speak again, and this is what He will say: "You're not Jacob anymore! Remember that wrestling match we had many years ago? I changed your name that day. You are no longer Jacob, you are Israel now! Just like Jacob, we all need to be reminded of the change in our identity that God made in us when we believed. Like the church at Ephesus, it's time that we went back to our first love........it's time that we did the first works again........it's time that we come to Him again like a child with same kind of passion that we had the first time.......it's time to go back, let's arise and go back to Bethel.

  1. If you think about...... why do we or did we ever leave "Bethel"? For us, "Bethel" is a place in our hearts, the place we first surrendered to God. So, no matter where we go or where life may take us let us not leave "Bethel" behind.

  2. In my mind I can remember the days before and after salvation came to my heart. I remember the pain of guilt and condemnation that plagued my soul. Hopeless and helpless, I was all alone! The identity that I carried was addict, liar, theif. My own mom and dad couldn't trust me and I was weary from knowing that I was trapped. I can identify with Jacob, though I wasn't trying to steal my brothers birthright. I was trying to get what I didn't need and what wasn't really mine to begin with. I wanted to do things my way not God's. Thank God for wrestling with me until I broke!
