GFYD 2-11-12

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Have you ever had a tragedy, or a sudden trial that happened in your life and it just left you shocked? We all have, and when life comes down on us suddenly it can be overwhelming and confusing. The word "dismay" in our scripture today paints that kind of picture. The word means "to gaze", and it gives the picture of being in shock and uncertain of what to do. Fear is the first thing that comes when we are "dismayed", but there is a way to fight back. Faith in the faithfulness of God is the only way to avoid the fear and dismay. He is Immanuel, and He will never leave us. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and He is ready and willing to help us. It's a shame that even though we know all of this, many still allow fear to come in and dominate their thoughts. Many times the reason why is because even though we know it, the devil can convince us that we don't deserve it because of our lack of perfection, and because of his deception we don't believe that these truths apply to us. That's why the last phrase of our Scripture is so very important. God says "I will uphold you with My righteous right hand"! And that settles the argument and silences the accuser. Help us Lord not to fear, and not to be dismayed. Help us to trust in your strength, faithfulness, willingness to help and above all, Your righteousness! Amen
