Psalm 6:9 The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord receives my prayer.
At first glance, it would appear that this verse says the same thing twice...the Lord has heard my supplication, the Lord receives my prayer, but a closer look shows us differently. The word "supplication" here means "supplication for favor". The word "receives" in the verse means to 'take, or lay hold of". So it would read like this, "The Lord has heard my request for favor; the Lord lays hold of my prayer." under the Old Covenant, Israel repeatedly lived in a cycle of obedience, victory, sin, defeat, repentance, obedience.......and so on. This helps us to understand the psalmist here as he first request favor, and then believed that God took received His prayer. How often do we still pray in this fashion, ignoring the fact that Jesus has initiated the New Covenant with His own blood, saving us by His grace. Grace is unmerited, or undeserved favor from God. When we pray in the authority of the name of Jesus, we know and have faith that we have favor, and that God has taken our prayer in His hand. How much of your prayer time is spent trying to overcome guilt and condemnation, when Jesus has already taken your guilt and nailed your sins to His cross? When you pray today, pray as if you're praying to your Father who loves you as a dear child.....because He does!

I thank the Lord, He has heard my prayer for favor and has lay hold of my prayer. How great is it that GOD hears us and responds!
ReplyDeleteI believe that I recieved His favor the miniute I got saved, and He always hears my prayer. And that he has a mighty plan in work on his own time.
ReplyDeleteGods favor in our prayers is guaranteed because of the covenant. But the favor of God is totally different I believe. Gods favor is there with us immediately in our walk with Jesus Christ. But knowing we have favor and being able to walk in his favor are different things. In our walk with Jesus Christ we have to come to the point that his favor is actually before us in anything we do that is not against his word. Also not in selfishness to our flesh. One of my prayers at this time is that each and every Brother and Sister in the Lord will come to the knowledge of walking in Gods favor. That is where we know that there is no other way except for his favor to be in front of us. This comes back to our faith level again. Can we get to the point where our faith is not influenced by things going on around us? Yes we can, we just have to be able to accept the reality of the word of God completely even if we have not had a supernatural experience with God yet. Ask God for a drop of his Glory and his favor in your prayer time. See what Happens. Be Blessed.
ReplyDeleteI would think that God's grace, or favor, came to me when I was lost and in need of a savior. I actually can not help but to beleive that God was helping me get to the place where I would surrender. I mean the devil had a lot of opprotunities to take me out but I am still here today. I was using needles and driving down the road totally wasted and yet I am still alive. God must have had a plan for my life and His grace brought me to it. Praying seems to be the way God channels His favor to us or at least to our hearts so we can see Him. I don't really know what to pray for but God leads me and prays for me with His Spirit and I just surrender , beleive and receive. GLORY!
