Psalm 4:1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
Today I want to focus on the psalmist's words "God of my righteousness". The importance of approaching God with the right attitude cannot be over stated! It is only by His righteousness that has been imputed to us that allows us access to His throne of grace. Do you come to God as if He owes you something because of the way life has treated you, or because you have been good in comparison to those around you? When we come to God with that kind of pride, we are missing some very important information! God doesn't owe us, we owe Him! We owe Him much more than we could ever repay, and He isn't holding that debt over your head.....He paid that debt in full on the cross where He died. I have had many times where I could pray the prayer of our Scripture today and declare that He has "relieved me in my distress", and regretfully, there have been many occasions when the distress was of mine own doing. He is a merciful God no doubt, and He is the God of my righteousness. I feel the need for us to take time today and pray with a focus on thanksgiving for a Holy God that became sin for us so that we could be made righteous. Nothing opens up heavens gates like thanksgiving. Amen
No doubt God comes when He is given thanks. I can tell you with everything that is within me that thanksgivng is the way to receive from God's presence. Even if we just thank Him for what we can think of then he will show up! It's really that simple for you and I to get what God wants us to have. Just start thanking Him for anything and keep going, I dare you to! It won't take long before a overwhelming feeling comes rushing through your spirit like many running waters! A calming yet exciting feeling that removes death and is life, abundant life, life to the fullest and overflowing!Call out His name and lift praises to the God of your righteousness because He deserves it more than we know!
