Grace For Your Day 12-3-11

3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

The Apostle John is probably my favorite of the Apostles. He was known as the disciple whom Jesus loved. John had a keen awareness of the love of God for Him, and I believe that the knowledge of God's love is why John was present at the cross of Jesus when all of the other disciples fled. Here John prays for prosperity in the lives of others, and I believe that prosperity is found when we begin to realize the greatness of God's love. John prays for prosperity, or success in "all things" including health. I guess John was a prosperity preacher, huh? The key to this verse is found in the words "just as your soul prospers". You see, when we give our lives to Christ and trust in Him for salvation, we are brought from death to life, and our soul is saved. Even when everything else seems to be in a mess, in Christ we have confidence that our soul is safe and prosperous in Him. In this passage, John takes it to a whole new level and prays a prayer of faith that their body, mind, family, finances....."all things" would line up in accordance with the soul that has been changed by Christ. I pray that prayer for you today! Amen.
