Matthew 2:2 ...“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
Let’s take a brief look at what these “wise men” did. First, they sought the King. They saw His star, and began their journey to see Him. Secondly, they worshipped the King. When they finally came into His presence, they knelt down before Him and worshipped Him. Thirdly, they gave unto the King. They didn’t come into the presence of royalty without a gift! They brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We don’t have time today to break down what each gift represented, but it is important to note that they brought gifts of great worth to a King of great worth. Let’s make it a point this year to take the path of these wise men. Let’s seek Him, because we are promised that we will find Him when we seek Him with all of our heart. Let’s worship Him. Don’t get caught worshipping the “holidays” instead of worshipping the Christ of Christmas. Let’s give. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. As a father, I understand that Scripture in a greater way now. Don’t get stuck in the rut of “what did I get?”, ask the question “what did I give?”. Your gift won’t be valued by its monetary value, but it will be valued by its worth. Are you willing to give your best to the King? Are you willing to give what’s valuable to you to others that need it more? You would be surprised what giving a smile to someone this time of year could do for them and you! Let’s walk in the path of wisdom……seek, worship and give. Amen
It truely does feel better when I give someone a present and their face lights up with thankfulness and surprise. I got a kindle this year from my in-laws and I am it felt really good but seeing another so happy is much more fulfilling! I love christmas and I always will even when the world tries to cut out Jesus from it.
