Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
Unto us. I still have a hard time believing that. The Bible says that God loved the world so much that He gave us His own Son. I believe that God is the ultimate Giver. Jesus Himself said that it’s more blessed to give than to receive. At Christmas time, people begin to work on their list of people that they intend to get a gift for, and the joy of giving becomes a great motivator. I have to be honest, I really enjoy surprising my children during Christmas…….it really blesses me to bless them. I guess that’s a very small idea of what our heavenly Father feels. How weird would it be though, for someone to make a list of all of their enemies, and then go and buy them extravagant gifts? You see, that is a little better picture of what God did for us. God sent His Son as a gift, but it wasn’t to His friends……….it was to a world that had forsaken Him and rebelled against His Word. His gift was unto me, while I was still in sin, walking in my own lusts and desires. I don’t know what that does for you, but to me, that takes giving to a whole new level! During this busy time of hustle and bustle, let’s keep it fresh on our minds that it was “unto us”. When we pray for our unsaved family members and friends, let’s speak by faith that it is “unto them”. What an amazing, and generous God we have. Amen
