The Remnant
2 Kings 19:31
For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem, a group of survivors from Mount Zion. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
Even when it seemed that everyone had turned from God, there was always a remnant. There were always those who would remain faithful, who would be spared of God's judgement and continue on with God's plan for His people. Elijah once thought he was the last of the faithful, but God quickly told him that there were several who served The Lord alone (1 Kings 19:18). We are told that in the last days, people would grow cold in their love because of the wicked state of the world (Matthew 24:12), but I believe that there are those who will remain faithful and even flourish in their faith during extremely adverse times. This world will go out with an explosion of sinfulness and rebellion against God, but there will also be, I believe, an explosion of the Holy Spirit of God in those who are willing to stand for Christ and share His message of hope in a dark world! I am determined to be a part of that number. I don't intend on limping home, but instead I want to run across the finish line with a company of people that met Him because of my obedience to fulfill His great commission (Matthew 28:19-20). I know that complacency abounds in the hearts of many, but let's choose to be a remnant of Holy Spirit filled soldiers for The Lord of Heaven's Armies!
