Shaped by Human Hands

2 Kings 19:18 And they have thrown the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all—only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands. Money, drugs, power, lust, possessions.... all things that often take the place of God. They are used to try to fill a void that only God Himself can fill. They also have a common trait that they all share. They are all shaped by human hands. Sure, they have a spiritual side to them, but they are adapted and changed by the hands of man to suit the sinful nature of people. And even though we have all been guilty of it, there really isn't a good reason to why we would ever make a god. It's even sounds really weird to think of someone making a god. How can you worship, and serve something that is shaped with your own hands? Well you can, but it's a terrible idea. Something of man has no more ability than man himself. It's power is only natural. I just can't settle for that! I understand and acknowledge my natural weaknesses and limitations. When I'm overwhelmed, I need supernatural intervention! If your god is man made, you are settling for defeat and failure. Instead of serving a god that is shaped by man, surrender your life to the One who shaped us!

  1. money, drugs, power, lust, yes these are all examples of things we make our god, but even things which sound good can become the ruling force in our lives, such as a job, i could make a list of good things but that would be offensive i am afraid so will not do that, but i have learned that whenever something takes precedence over my life it is time for a reatity check- but we as adult christians do not normally like reality checks in our own lives, too easy to find the faults with others lives- God made us in his likeness ,so we need to strive to act and do what we think he would do,

  2. How easily does the heart of man fool him! How quickly do we turn our affections towards another! We must live with the understanding that we are poor in spirit. Our need for God must be ever present! Practicing a open and honest inventory on a daily basis is the only way to keep the spiritual true decay away! Maintenance!!!!!!!!!!
