Get What You Expect

2 Kings 7:2 The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” Israel was under siege, and because of it there was no food to be found. People were so hungry that they were paying big money for donkey heads and dove dung! It was so bad that some were even eating their own children. It was at this time that Elisha announced that the next day there would be an abundance of flour and grain. One of the kings officers scoffed at such a prediction. He was saying "no way that will happen, not even if God uses His own resources in heaven!" Unfortunately, his unbelief got him just what he expected, and his words did him in the next day. Elisha's prediction came true, and there was enough food to drive prices down to almost nothing, but the rushing crowd of people trampled the king's officer while he was at the gate of the city. Don't ever doubt God's ability to provide, because in doubting we will fail to receive it. And we should never forget that our words can bring both life and death. Lord grow our faith today to trust you more than ever, and let us be so full of faith that it comes out in the words that we speak. Amen
