Ways to Bring Us Back
2 Samuel 14:14
All of us must die eventually. Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.
Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, and it can't be gathered up again. That's a pretty good picture when you really think about it. Do you ever look back at your life and wish you could get a do over? I know that I have wished that before. Absalom was probably thinking that after he killed his brother Amnon, and David was definitely wishing for a redo. He was seeing his sins brought back to life through his kids, and he was heart broken. The water was out of the bucket, lying on the ground, and there was no going back. This is where God enters the scene. I can't clean up the mess, but He can! I love how it says that "He devises ways to bring us back" to Him. It really shows the heart of a loving God that uses all kinds of things to steer us back home when we have wandered away. Maybe you have done something's that can't be undone, and you feel hopeless and helpless about it. Just remember that God's heart is to remove the separation, and He will use whatever He needs to make it happen.

I think of the verse in EPH.2:14 "He has broken down the middle wall between us." that separation that sin made in our lives kept us from fellowship with God. Just like it keeps broken relationships with family and friends from being mended...Those caught in their sin find some relationships fragmented BUT God said that he would put our sin as far as the east is from the west NEVER to remember it again...oh how great it would be if we could do the same. Start today with repentance to God then forgive those who you have wronged even if they find it hard to forgive you. Sister Diane
ReplyDeleteThe whole water thing is perfectly desciptive. Once it's gone there is no natural way for us to bring it back together. But God is supernatural and has brought us back from the dead through His Son Jesus Christ. He makes all things new and whole yet again! And the experience of it is incomparable and leaves us speechless. No words can describe what our Savior has done for us! Praise the Lord, Jesus Christ! Let us spill out our lifes to God so He can transform our waters into new wine! A fountain of living waters springing up with vigor and vitality! A substance that is better than before, complete, whole and everlasting!
