Stop Hiding, but Stay Humble
1 Samuel 10:22
Therefore they enquired of the Lord further, if the man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.
It's hard to believe that the first king of Israel was hiding. It seems like a weird trait for a king, but Saul would have done well to stay humble. Saul stood head and shoulders above everyone else, but his humbleness caused God to exalt him to a place of authority. Later, Saul's pride would become his downfall. God took Saul from a place of hiding to a place of honor. Saul's reign didn't come from self-promotion, and it was evident to all that God placed him on the throne. If we are not careful, we can allow God's blessings and promotions go to our head. When this happens, there is surely a down to earth experience around the corner. Although a low self-esteem may not be the best of traits, God can work with it much better than He can with arrogance. If you are hiding from your gifts and calling today, come on out from behind the stuff and let God use you. Just don't let it go to your head!
