The World Didn't Give It

2 Kings 4:20, 21 1 So the servant took him home, and his mother held him on her lap. But around noontime he died. 2 She carried him up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and left him there. This woman's child was a miracle child, a promise of God. She couldn't have children, but one year after Elisha prophesied to her, she had a son. Her promise was received, but then apparently lost when the child died. The enemy of our souls would try to keep us from receiving God's promises, and even after we receive them, he still fights to keep us from enjoying them. Salvation is the greatest promise that God ever made, and its the one that the devil fights hardest to keep us from getting. After we receive salvation, the devil doesn't stop fighting. He tries his best to get us to doubt our salvation, or make us believe that we have lost our salvation. We need the same perseverance that this woman had when it seemed that she had lost her promise. What God has given through the promise of His Word, He will cause me to keep through His power. The world didn't give it to me, and the world can't take it away!
