Joshua 10:12-14
12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the LORD delivered up the
Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,
Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon.... 13 And the sun stood still....
How many times have you heard someone say "there's just not enough hours
in the day"? I have not only heard it many times, I have said it many
times! There is no doubt that we live in a super busy, fast paced world. We
have so many conveniences, but we seem to have even less time to do the Lord's
work. That's because with the technology that brings many conveniences, comes
the technology that brings many avenues to waste time as well. Wouldn't you
love to have the ability to freeze time? Well, God did just that for Joshua.
Israel was running out of daylight during their battle with the Amorites, and
Joshua spoke by faith, and the Lord listened to him and paused the normal
rotation of solar system.......wow! If God did that for Joshua, don't you think
that He could do it for you too? He absolutely could, but it's possible that He
might do it in a different way. It's important to note that God did this
miracle as Joshua was fighting a battle in the name of the Lord. If we devote
ourselves to do God's work, He will make our time more fruitful. It's the same
principle that we use when we give to God financially. We believe that if we
put Him first, He will make the rest abound. We can't ask God to give us more
time to put Him into our schedule. Instead, we must place Him as the priority
in our day, and trust Him to make us more successful with the time that we have
left. And who knows, if we come to the end of the day having fought the good
fight, God might just press the pause button so that we can win another battle
before bedtime!
