A New Path

Joshua 3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. Experience is great to lean upon when you recognize the path as one that you have travelled before. There is no greater tool than that of experience when you can remember the mistakes that you made so that you can avoid repeating them, or when you can remember the formula that brought you success. But what about when you face a road that is unfamiliar, or when the journey ahead is new territory for you? It is then when we need to lean upon the experience of someone else. As a teenager, I found it difficult to listen to the advice of those who were older than me. I thought that I could figure it out. Their advice always seemed lame at the time. Of course as I grew older, I realized that their counsel was based on experience, and it would have been wise of me to follow. Find those around you that are seasoned and full of experience, and become humble enough to learn from their mistakes and accomplishments. In our passage today, Israel found themselves in a unique place. No one among them had the experience to help in what they were about to venture into. No one except God! They could rely upon God because, as the Alpha and Omega, nothing catches Him by surprise. When it comes to experience, the Ancient of Days has no equal. Let's learn from Him, don't try to get ahead of Him, and follow Him.

  1. I feel like I am just barely keeping up most of the time. I see others doing more than me and I feel like a failure at times. I know God tells us not to compare ourselves to others, but I am trying. I feel so held back by circumstances.I'm sure God is up to something though! I have seen when someone gets ahead of God and it doesn't work out. The enemy came to kill, steal and destroy. Help me Jesus!
