A Frightening Potential

Joshua 2:9 And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. What is your biggest challenge in life? What is it that keeps you from being all that you can be? Maybe it's an addiction, or even someone who wants to keep you discouraged and defeated. We all have an enemy of some kind, and we all have at least one enemy in common. The devil is your enemy whether or not you realize it. The Bible says that he comes to "to steal, and to kill, and to destroy" (John 10:10). Now what if you found out that your enemy was afraid of your potential? That's just what happened to Israel. They had spent years out in the wilderness because they were scared of the inhabitants of the promised land, but now they learn something that they didn't know. Rahab the harlot tells them that everyone is scared of them because of the favor of God and His power on them. Just think, all of this time they were scared of someone who was scared of them! I believe that the time has come that we also realized that our potential is terrifying to the devil. Not because of our abilities, but because we have the favor of God and He has empowered us with His Spirit. It's time to watch the enemy squirm for awhile because our God is a mighty God, and our potential strikes fear in the heart of the opposition!

  1. This is a truth we many times forget, well I said we, I can't speak for you but only me. This is a truth I sometimes forget. The enemy doesn't know exactly what we will do, but he knows as children of God we have great potential, and that frightens him and threatens his kingdom. So what does he do? He strikes fear in our hearts to try and keep us scared and defeated so that we won't step out and trust God to do what God wants to do in our lives. Lord, open my eyes to see that my enemy is more scared of me than I am of him.

  2. Ya, our enemy wants to take from us exactly what Jesus died for. Not our salvation per say but everything that goes with it. What happens when we grasp hold of the power that we have through the blood..we pray for everyone we see witness to those we might not have talked to and see the Hand of God move ! our enemy wants to keep us thinking he's a giant but he is a puney snake slithering on the ground. Remember that when he wants to tell us what we can't do or make us fearful..as Joyce Meyer would say "Do it scared"!
