Go Get'em

Numbers 31:3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the Lord of Midian. This passage is interesting to me because it is an instance where God says "go get'em"! A lot of Israel's battle were defensive, or situations where they had to fight because they were under attack. In this case, God issued the marching orders and Israel became the aggressor. Now it wasn't an unwarranted attack, because the Midianites were enemies of God and His people. There is a great spiritual truth found here that I hope we can apply to our lives. When God established His church, He gave us marching orders. He said "upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). Can't you hear what God was saying? He was saying "Go get 'em"! Now our fight is not against flesh and blood, but it is spiritual in nature, and we are called to be the aggressors in this fight. No where do we find the command to wait until the fight comes to us, for the command has already been given for us to fight! How do we fight this battle? We fight with prayer and a faith that produces action. Do we wait until we see our children under attack to offer up prayers? Absolutely not, because we know that the devil is already roaming and looking for those that he can devour. We need to rise up now and call upon Heaven's host to send a few shots his way. We need to march, not wait. We need to pray, not worry. We need to serve in this army, not sit reluctantly on the sidelines with no urgency. Let's put on the whole armor of God and go get'em!

  1. I believe this means to take the ground we either stand on or drive on or fly over. In mission work there is one constant and that is taking the word of Christ to someone who has not heard it. Usually where there are local or national people who control what people think. Per-se withdoctors. We teach the nationals to physically walk and pray over their territory and claim it for Jesus. It works. Annoint your land with oil- it works- pray over your property - it works. Gods promises work when we do it his way- not ours. Think out side of the box we would say. Claim that sidewalk when you walk on it. Claim walmart when you walk in it. Speak out Gods sovereign power and grace everywhere you touch, beside over our families.ken
