Deuteronomy
34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the
Lord knew face to face,
As the book of Deuteronomy comes to an end, so does the life of Moses. God took
him up on top of the mountain and let him see the land that Israel would soon
possess. God would then bury him in an unknown location. When it came time for
Moses to die, the Bible says that his "eye was not dim, nor his natural
force abated." He was one hundred and twenty, but still strong! Moses was
one of the greatest men of God that ever lived, and there are so many great
things to say about him, but our verse today sums up who he was. Moses was a
man of God whom the Lord had a "face to face" relationship with. This
describes a relationship that was as close and personal as a man could be to
God under the old covenant. Just think of the potential that we have as
followers of Christ! Too often, we seek the hands of God instead. We seek Him
for blessings and help instead of intimacy. Or we seek His face for a season,
and then drift away in time. Let's make the commitment to seek the face of God
and stay there!

There is great importance to encourage each other in the Lord. Our hearts can fail us, our flesh can de-rail us, and the devil wants to kill, steal , and destroy the intimacy we can share with God. I am learning more each day about real intimacy. As a child my father wasn't real big on spending time with us talking or sharing his heart with us. I am not bitter about it anymore, but I still seem to be stuck in a natural distance from intimacy from time to time. I am so thankful that God will initiate intimacy with me first. He does seem to wait on me at times but then other times I am arrested by His lovingkindness! Change has come and at times it felt hard, but it is totally worth it. I want to see God's face once again!
