His Name
Numbers 6:27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
There is an old saying that says "blood is thicker than water". It speaks of the importance of family, and even more specifically, the name. The people in your life that share your name, share a bond that is strong and lasting. My children were born with my name, and nothing will ever change that. Because of their name, they will be associated with me in every way, positive and negative. There may be times when my children are proud of their association with me, and maybe even times when they will be embarrassed, but it is what it is! As born again believers, we have been given a priceless gift........a new identity! That new identity is ours because God has placed His name upon us. What a blessing, and what a responsibility! We should strive to walk worthy of such a high calling, but in doing so, we should also recognize that His name was placed upon us without us deserving it. I pray that we would have a fresh revelation of the Name that we have been so generously given, and let us never be ashamed to be identified as His!

Im glad God is so powerful and loving that He'd care enough to change my identity. I'm glad God sees Him when He looks at me, instead of my past.
ReplyDeleteProverbs 22:1 says, "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches"...... What a blessing it is to be identified with the Name that is above every name. Jesus is truly better than anything or anyone else. May we show the world around us to whom we belong and bring glory to the Name in which we bear.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever been disapointed to be your fathers' son or maybe your mothers'? Was you adopted and never knew your real parents? Have you ever shamed your family name by doing something terrible? I can see why the name we bear can be important. Basicaly who we are comes from where we come from and the choices we make because of it. Do people go the other way when they see you out somewhere? I have been that person and for good reason. I was a "Jacob" so to speak, and I would steal from you or lie to your face to get what I wanted. Thank God for re-birth. That person died and I was born again. The life I live in the body is not my own, I belong to God! I came from Him and I choose to live accordingly. Thank you Jesus for new life!
