God's Meet and Greet

Exodus 19:17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

Can you imagine the excitement as Moses told Israel that they would get to meet God in three days? They were all commanded to wash up and prepare for an encounter with the Almighty. Finally the day arrived and everyone came out of their tents to say "hello" to God, but instead they were scared out of their sandals! The mountain was on fire, and the earth was shaking, and the sound of a trumpet grew louder and louder. There was a perimeter set up around the mountain that said "No Trespassing", and people who chose to get too close would meet their maker if you know what I mean. What was the significance of this meeting? It revealed a truth to Israel that would be repeated over and over throughout their history. That truth was "God is holy, and if you want to approach Him, you must be holy like Him". Next, God would reveal His law to Moses, who would relay it to the people. The law would reveal just how unholy they were, and how great the separation was between them and their God. With a separation that great, someone would have to bridge the divide, and each step of their journey, God would reveal a little bit more about the One, Jesus Christ, who would one day bring reconciliation between a holy God and law breakers like them, and us. Thank you Jesus!

  1. O what a sweet and blessed event which will occur to all believers in God Christ Jesus in his own time-the going home to be with Jesus...who knows when the lords soldiers, who are now fighting "the good fight of faith" are done with conflict and
entered into the joy of the lord...no I think none of us want to go today just like Israel .I like Jesus prayer in john17:15 I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world. Praise
his name he Jesus knows our flight and if he had his way perhaps we would all be siting right beside him.. thank you for the life we have in you..may we see you in every thing we do today

  2. Interesting! To appreciate our fellowship with God we have to come to the acceptance that we are unholy. That means denial has to be gone and the veil lifted from our eyes so to speak. That's something that will bring a storm of emotions like fear, anger, and sadness. I would say that was how the Isrealites felt as they had to accept the truth about their God. Wow! But he didn't stop there, He made the way so we could be together in fellowship again. That makes it better!
