Exodus 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
Things had changed in Egypt in a big way. God's people had changed from a people of honor, to become a major threat in the eyes of Egypt and their new king. Because of this, the Egyptians made life very difficult for the Hebrews. Bondage has always been a weapon of choice by the enemy. Why then, would God allow a new king in Egypt to make life so difficult? The Bible definitely teaches us that God is in control, and in the book of Romans the Word teaches that "the powers that be are ordained of God " referring to those who are in authority are only there because God allowed it. Well, God did allow this new king in Egypt, and without knowing it, he was a part of God's plan to get His people to the promised land. I pray that God would allow us to become uncomfortable in our complacency, angry in our bondage, and unsatisfied with our lack, so that we might rise up and march toward our destiny and live the abundant life that He has freely given to us. Amen!
You know, I really never thought of it in that way. If the Egyptians had never enslaved God's people they would have never had the urgency to leave their comfortable lives in Egypt. That also reminds me of the early church in the book of Acts, Because of persecution the church spread throughout the land. God is in control, and it is for our benefit and His glory. God, I pray that you make us all uncomfortable and unsatisfied with where we are and move us toward you and your perfect plan for our lives.
