"Does Anybody Care about Me? 4-3-12
Exodus 2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens...
Compassion. It seems to be hard to come by in our fast paced society. Everyone has so much to do, with so little time, and never enough money.......we often fail to look beyond ourselves to see the needs of others. The interesting part is this: in our selfish state of mind we thoughtlessly begin to cry out "does anybody care about me"! When it comes to this, we all have been guilty a time or too. It's interesting to note that when I'm actively looking to meet the needs of others, I never feel like no one cares about me, but the moment I begin to become inward focused, I feel as if I'm not getting the attention that I deserve. Compassion. It's what drove Moses out of the luxuries of Egypt, and into the wilderness with a bunch of gripers, doubters and complainers! He did it because he cared, and he cared because "he looked on their burdens". Let's face it, we all have burdens, but if we all focused on "theirs" instead of "mine", everybody's load would get carried. Speaking of compassion, in just a few days we will come to a day called "Good Friday". On that day, a couple of thousand years ago, the God of compassion looked upon you, saw your burdens, and carried them up a hill where He died for you. I pray that I can daily walk in His steps and truly care for others as He did.

Jesus..... place in me the compassion that you yourself have for the people in this world. Let their burdens and concerns become my burdens and concerns. Take my eyes off of me and place them on the people you've placed in my path. In Jesus name, Amen.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could allways remember to pray for others when I think of them. Key word Allways-- So many times we look at someones needs and just assume someone else will pray for them. Jesus took the burden for all of us, If we let the walls build up little by little we will not care. As the drama showed satan just needs a little to try and make us forget about Gods things. Especially compassion. Challenge- to give something to someone who has not. Let them know it came from God and us to just be the vessel that God uses. What an honor.Ken
ReplyDeleteI'm finding that it does not take much time, and really very little effort to reach out to someone who is going through something. To get their phone number, give them a call, pray with them, show them some concern. I know that it means alot to me when my family is going through a tough time when someone takes a step away from their life just for a minute to call or text.I'll say what Billy said also"Lord, place compassion in my heart also,to show genuine compassion to others. Thank you Pastor for the word.
ReplyDeleteI am the world's worst at putting into an action the heart of God. A lot of times I will have a burden for someone but never reach out with the hand of the Lord to help them. At this time I find myself in a battle with the dark powers of this world. I fear this battle is one that I loose to many times. I would ask God for conviction that won't stop until the task is done! A holy discontentment that cannot be become cold with complacency! Don't get me wrong, I have allowed God to use me at times but there is so much more that God wants to do thru me and all of us. I have the heart of God within but the fire becomes smothered! I know what I need, a fan! Oh yeah I got a tongue, I mean a fan! Let us pray, in the Spirit!
